The Game of LIFE

This weekend I spent a majority of my time focused on my nephew who is 12 years old rather than the social media world that now  envelopes me.  You would think being 12 that everything revolves around technology but surprisingly we spent Saturday learning how to shoot arrows at the Archery Range, biking while he roller-bladed, playing the game of LIFE and... going to the movies to watch Alpha and Omega.

Whoa... let's back up a minute.  The game of LIFE?  The last time I played that game was when I was a senior in high school!

But alas, my nephew insisted we play.

My brother and his wife started out the game by choosing the START COLLEGE path (me included) and my nephew chose the START CAREER path. (For a laugh, Click Here to revisit the rules of the game of LIFE) HMMM... isn't that interesting.  It seems we were all off to our chosen paths until we all had to stop and GET MARRIED.  Then we all had to stop and BUY THE HOUSE.  Of course there were kids along the way and then the ultimate was choosing whether you thought you could retire at Millionaire Estates or opt for the modest life at Countryside Acres.

I turned to my brother (younger) and said "How old is this game?" (It turns out pretty old).

The real interesting conversation came after we returned from the movies and I asked my nephew if he wanted to play Mario Kart on the Wii.

He turned around and said... No... that's too old. : (
